Though the basic techniques of the Pan Filter are simple, the technology behind them and its implementation are not. Pan Filter Technology has made improvements to the basic technology of the filter that have not been not discussed in the published papers. These improvements optimize the performance of the filter and have been incorporated into our software products. We have currently completed development of an in-depth filter design environment and have established a robust filter design methodology.

There are two filtering modes associated with the Pan Filter:

  • Data Analysis
    • One single FFT/IFFT pair is used to filter the input signal.
  • Real Time
    • A rolling filter is used to filter the entire input signal. The input signal is broken down into multiple segments, and each segment is filtered with a FFT/IFFT pair whose length is specified beforehand. The filtered output is then reconstructed back from the filtered segments.

As a result, there are two toolboxes available for immediate evaluation:

  • Pan Filter Data Analysis Toolbox
    • Matlab code
    • Design guide, filter design & test files
    • Floating point
  • Pan Filter Real Time Toolbox
    • Matlab code
    • Design guide, filter design & test files
    • Floating point

Further versions can easily be developed:

  • Fixed point
  • C/C++ for DSPs
  • Verilog/VHDL for FPGAs/ASICs
